I have been a breeder of only Tibetan Terriers for 48 years. During that time I have had some of the top dogs in the country. With wins at Nationals as well as two wins at Westminster
I breed for temperament first. Then conformation, movement, silky coats and of course health. My dogs have been on both the front cover and the back cover of Tibetan Terrier Books in the past.
I can no longer lift or groom my Tibetans, so I have now moved on to another breed. The Maltipoo. I got my first one as a house pet that goes with me everywhere and sleeps with me. I have found the breed so enchanting,, smart and real cuddle bugs. So this is the breed I have decided to go with. Below you will see some of my Wins with the Tibetans.
My Maltipoos will get the same dedication. I look for type, personality, coats and size. Many of my new dogs come from Korea as they have the look I like. Others from here in the US.. I want to keep the size in the toy sizes. from 3 to 7 lbs. After all they are a mix of two toy breeds. Maltese and Toy Poodles. I want my males to be no bigger than 3 to 4 lbs Females from 5 to 7 lbs. While searching for my breeding stock I have come across many oversized dogs. Some I unfortunately was told they would be certain weights and when I get them, they are charting to be so much bigger, one just off the charts. So I will be selling these dogs to great homes.. In total I plan on having 13 breeding stock.
As for food, they get the best, Jinx Salmon kibble, there are no preservatives in that food. Dr. Marty's Freeze dried food which also has no preservative. Those are mixed with either Ollies or Farmers Dog, which my dogs seem to like. Those foods are human grade wet foods.
Puppies will be born and raised in the house. I am building a new home and there will be one room just for the dogs, when not running around my house, there will also be a doggy door to their own screened in porch.
Below are some of my tibetans winning The first two were at The Westminster shows. I am past wanting to show, Which you can not do as these are mix breeds or as some call them, designer dogs. I have to say they did an awesome job designing this breed. Me, I like more of the silkier coats. Probably because of my Tibetans. But I still have some poodles that I breed the Maltipoos to. I will also be breeding Maltipoo to Maltipoo going for the great coats.. Shorter muzzles, as I do not like them too long like the poodle. I will not dock tails, but will remove dew claws
As for colors, I prefer the ones hard to get, Like Blue and Chocolate Merles. Chocolates, Reds , Phantoms which we called tries in the Tibetan World. ( Chocolates are not allowed in Tibetans), and a more common color the creams.
